About Artist

Michele's studied at the University of Illinois where she finished her B.F.A. in Painting.   Michele then enrolled in graduate school where she received her Master's in Art Education. 
 
During her studies at the University of Illinois, Michele's work turned toward the surreal.  Always interested in the psychology of people and their role in society, Michele's work refocused on the humanity of the ordinary man/woman.
 
In 1999 Michele moved to Santa Cruz, California.   After moving to Santa Cruz she gave up teaching full time to focus on her career as a painter. 
 
Since this time Michele has been exploring the boundaries of portraiture.  Artists that have influenced her work are Jack Ekstrom, Max Beckman, Alice Neel, Hans Hoffman, Oskar Kokoschka, Chaim Soutine, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Picasso's Analytical Cubist Period.
